Rohan live three kilometres away from his school. He alwaysf wished he had a bicycle.
Once one of his friend said that he he wanted to sell hs old bicycle for Rs. 1000, Rohan asked his father for the money. His agreed to pay half the sum. Rohan decided to earn the rest of the amount father, however, could not manage the entire amount. He on his own.
He took up the job of distributing newspapers
in the neighbourhood. He started getting up early. He worked one hour a day for
two months. He earned Rs. 700. He gave it to his father and the bicycle was
finally bought. Rohan was doubly pleased because he had worked himself to earn
the money for his needs instead or depending on his father. He realized that
self-help is the best help.

2. A STONE IN THE ROAD
The King of Chandrapur was disappointed. His subjects were very lazy. He wanted them to be hardworking, alert and very lazy. He wanted them to be hardworking, alert and responsible. How could he change their ways? O ne day the king thought of a plan.
Very secretly, the king had a big stone placed in the middle f the busiest street. Specially appointed courtiers would stand in one corner and observe. They would go there disguised, so no one could recognized them. They could see people going up and down the street. They could also see some people stumbling against the stone. Still no one bothered to remove the stone.
One day the king disguised himself himself as a very poor
old man. He walked to the stone in full view of everyone. His leg hit the stone. He looked down at the stone. Then he bent down, lifted it and threw it to the side of the road. There was a small bag of gold coins under the stone\. Everyone started as the old man put the gold coins in his pocket. Later, the people of Chandrapur had learnt their lesson!
